Every email sent through Email Gateway leaves our infrastructure from an IP address, and that address carries a sending reputation with mailbox providers like Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo. That reputation directly affects deliverability: how many of your emails land in the inbox versus spam. Email Gateway supports three ways of sourcing that IP: a Shared IP Pool, a Dedicated IP, and Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP).

IP allocation isn't yet something you configure yourself. There's currently no option to buy or manage IPs within the UI itself. Provisioning is handled directly by CM.com's Deliverability and Product teams. Self-service IP management planned.

Shared IP Pool

The Shared IP Pool is the default for every account. Your email sends alongside traffic from other CM.com customers, on infrastructure we actively monitor and keep healthy. There's nothing to set up: if you haven't asked us about IPs before, this is what you're already using. It's the right fit for many senders, especially those with lower or unpredictable volume.

Because reputation is shared, we manage the pool proactively rather than leaving it to chance. We track deliverability signals across the pool, monitor for blocklist entries, and step in quickly if a sender's behavior starts to affect the group. Senders who show poor list hygiene or trigger spam complaints are flagged and worked with directly, so the pool stays clean without every customer needing to police it themselves.

Dedicated IP

A dedicated IP is an address used exclusively by your account, allowing you to build your own sending reputation with mailbox providers. It's best suited to senders with consistent, higher volume: a dedicated IP with too little traffic can build reputation more slowly than the shared pool it's replacing. CM.com provisions the IP for you, so you don't need to manage the underlying infrastructure yourself.

Likely a good fit if:

• Your volume is consistent day-over-day
• You already have an established sending history
• You want your reputation separated from other senders' behavior

Usually not worth it if:

• Your volume is low or unpredictable
• You're a brand-new sender with no track record
• Your list hygiene or content practices still need work

We also offer Dedicated IP pools, which group multiple dedicated IPs together under your account. This works well for senders who want to distribute volume across several IPs, for example to separate traffic types or add redundancy, while still keeping full control over their own sending reputation. Pools can also be configured per domain, so different sending domains can each build and maintain their own distinct reputation.

Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP)

Bring Your Own IP is available for large senders who own their own IPs and want to leverage their established sending reputation.

We support bringing over a /24 CIDR block, a contiguous range of 256 IP addresses, and route your messages through it. This gives you full control over your IP reputation, while reducing the complexity and risk of migrating your infrastructure.

It also significantly reduces the need for a traditional warm-up period, since your reputation is already established rather than starting from scratch. This means developers generally don't need to split traffic during warm-up when transferring to a new service: you can move most or all of your traffic over at once instead of gradually ramping up volume.

Dedicated IPs, custom pools, and BYOIP aren't available to set up yourself yet. Contact your account manager to request any of these — they'll loop in the product team for the setup.
