Create porting request

Porting request flow

  1. Verify the requirements for the country of the numbers to port.
  2. Make sure you have a valid company profile matching the requirements and number type.
  3. Create a new phone number porting request via the Create Porting Request endpoint.

Status updates

You will get status updates when the status of a number request changes. The number request can be accepted or rejected by support. A reason will always be supplied with the status update. You can always cancel a number request yourself if it's not yet finalized.

Receiving status updates:

  • You will receive an email on the email addresses in the company profile each time the status is updated.
  • If you have supplied a callback URL, you will get a callback each time the status is updated containing the full number request also found in Get Porting Request.
  • You can always check the request and it's status yourself via the Get Porting Request endpoint.
  • Find out which possible statuses a number request can via the Get Porting Request Statuses endpoint. Or check the list below. Note: A lot of statuses are just for the Dutch (NL) porting flow, so if you are porting a number outside of the Netherlands, they will not be applicable.

Completed requests

The Netherlands

When the number provider is ready for the porting, the status of the porting request will be "Ready to be ported". If that happens, there are two options:

  • You are able to click the "Perform porting" button on the porting request page in the Voice Management App, or call the Perform Porting Request endpoint to complete the porting requests. The numbers will be automatically assigned to your voice account and can be configured. If you already configured a distribution group in de porting request, that configuration will be used.
  • You are able to click the "Cancel porting" button on the porting request page in the Voice Management App, or call the Cancel Porting Request endpoint. This cancels the ongoing porting request when you no longer want to execute the porting.

Other countries

After the porting request is completed, the phone numbers will be automatically assigned to your voice account and can be configured. If you already configured a distribution group in de porting request, that configuration will be used.
