# Transfer call

The transfer call block in FlowBuilder allows you to transfer or forward an ongoing phone call to another phone number or distribution group. It's important to note that initiating a transfer will end the current flow.

When transferring a call, FlowBuilder sets up a new <<glossary:SIP>> trunking call with a new <<glossary:Call-ID>> to the specified destination. This means:

* The transferred call will be billed separately.
* It will appear as a distinct entry in the [Voice Insights app](https://www.cm.com/app/voice-insights) and in your <<glossary:CDRs>>.

It is also possible to add a webhook to the transfer, this will call your software before the transfer is placed.\
The callback will contain the following information:

```json
{
  "call_id": "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000",
  "instruction_id": "Optional identifier",
  "transferred_call_id": "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001"
}
```

The call ID is the identifier of the call in FlowBuilder, the instruction ID is a custom value you can set to help distinguish transfer operations, and the transferred call ID is the identifier of the new call.\
If you wish to get the status of the new call, you can use the Insights API's conversation endpoint to poll its status. For reference on the Insights API, check [this page](https://developers.cm.com/voice/reference/get_voice-insightsapi-v1-accountguid-conversations).

> When voicemail has been detected and voicemail-response has been set to **Restart**, the call will end once the call flow arrive at this block.
